Importance of Training and what to do when you don’t have money
This article is a transcription of an audio message which I sent to my team members (Chennai Event Emcees Team) to make them realize the importance of training. My sincere thanks to Emcee Siva to have transcribed this article.
Hi guys good evening to all. I thought of giving you all a small update. It is regarding the training and learning. This is something that I have observed from my experience, so I wanted to share it with you all. Whoever finds it meaningful can try to make use of it. It is something that I always keep talking about.
We all spend money on education in school, education in college and then for higher studies. After doing all that there is no assurance as to when we will get a job but still our family spends thousands and lakhs because “spending money on studies is alright” is what we all are habituated to. But across all that, trainings and workshops have become the practical learning these days. Its not like the conventional schools and colleges that goes on for years. It may be conducted for a day, a week or on weekends.
But we think a lot before investing on these opportunities. For example, there are acting courses, VJ courses, MC courses, dance courses, etc. Spending a thousand, two thousand or five thousand on such courses seems a huge amount. We cant afford the sum is what we believe. Sometimes, not having the finance to support, we start blaming the course of being very costly, which is a big mistake most people do!
But a right person accepts the course fee and acknowledges his financial inability. Some of these people say that they don’t have money and would be interested in joining after arranging funds. But if you look at the statistics and past records a majority of people never join till the end. This happens because we always have some commitment or another. We all are enlisted in events group and earning, working as promoters or MCs, earning atleast 2000 to 5000 monthly. But we say we are unable to pay 1000 or 500 for training. It means we are spending the 5000 rupees somewhere else. This shows our priority. We give less priority to training considering it presently unnecessary and spend the money elsewhere.
But its not that it is wrong. There are family commitments, medical expenses, bike expense and others. But despite all that we need to spend on training. Those who think that they will take training after some more earnings will never get training opportunities and be bound with commitments till the end. So it will be my sincere suggestion that if you get such training and learning opportunities , first decide if you want to attend that. If you feel like attending and money is the issue then discuss it with your trainer. That’s exactly what Nandhini and I did.
Many a times when we didn’t have money for the training but we liked it, we would call up the trainer and tell him that we are two not one person attending the training and seek discount. We don’t demand it. We tell frankly. We tell him about our interest and how useful we think it is and also about lack of funds for fee. Now we ask him for our options. If he is going to give us a discount or how much time he is going to give us to pay the fees. Whether he will take money as post dated cheque or in installments. In such cases many trainers have helped us. They have given us discount and accepted cheques for which we paid by earning after finishing the training. So this is how you should handle your opportunities. These training programs are not like school and college where even after spending lakhs you cant be sure when you can start earning.
If you invest in the practical training like current training programs introduced by me, learn properly and if you put things into action then you can earn five times the amount which you have invested within a week or a month. “I can give guarantee provided you take proper action after training”. So I will refer you training programs or if you have some from your other training circles and if you find it worth then without worrying about your finances you should share your problem with your trainer.
Definitely they will help you because most of these trainers have crossed these financial hurdles themselves. Even they have learnt through various means. There are many ways and not all training programs need money. For example how I learnt is by spending my time with my Mentor Consultant and Coach Dr Maharaja SivaSubramanian N. I learnt social media marketing by being with him, spending time on his content, sharing his messages in social media, etc as I did not have funds to pay him for the training.
So like that there are many ways. And you should discuss it with your trainers. Thats it and thats all I wanted to share with you all. Whoever finds this suggestion useful shall start using it. All the best!
